with much anticipation and gratitude, i was happy to hear that we were going to have a foof & poof II this year! check out foof and poof I here. these girls come prepared with costumes, poses and some serious moves. it hurts as i edit these, knowing that i only did the splits once in my life….when my wonderful older sister pushed me all the way down when i was about 7 years old. ouch.

click class is this weekend!

i’ve always known that click classes won’t last forever, but i will keep doing them as long as the demand is there. (i am FINALLY planning a click class II for this year) this weekend i will be hosting 3 lovely ladies and it’s going to have the feel of a private class. but you know, i am super excited! more intimate group means more hands on, and for that, i am thrilled! the little man and i adventured out this week to scout out our afternoon shoot location, and he was beyond excited in the car because it involved a train. i certainly didn’t plan on it, but what perfect timing to witness a train coming by while we were scouting! for this class, i have older models, and i had so much fun shopping for these gorgeous girls. i even have a makeup artist coming to class to get them ready. it’s going to be romantic with a touch of vintage….so stay tuned for the results!

a couple weeks ago, i had the privilege to photograph the birthday party of a wonderful 8 year old girl who i have been photographing since she was a baby! she is a twin, and this was the first year she and her brother have done separate parties. so it was ALL girl!! her fabulous mom hosted a spa and tea party for her and a handful of friends. the girls had a great time, and i had to share some of the party details with you!

claudia took a click class just over a year ago, and i was so happy to get her phone call asking me about maternity and baby’s first year photos! she and tim are expecting baby #1, due ANY day now…5.15 to be exact. i’m waiting for the phone call or e-mail so i can meet the little one in person for newborn pictures. claudia, i hope you enjoy these next ten days and are able to keep your feet up. much love and i’ll see you soon!

dirt cake

we made dirt cake a couple weeks ago for tyson’s birthday party and i always love making it. and who doesn’t like digging up gummy worms? recipe from my mother-in-law. if you want to make a bigger batch, i used LARGE instant puddings.

1/4 cup margarine (room temp)

8 oz cream cheese

1/2 cup powdered sugar

cream together above ingredients and set aside.

1 package vanilla instant pudding

1 package chocolate instant pudding

12 oz cool whip

pour chocolate and vanilla pudding powder together and make instant pudding according to package directions.

stir in cool whip.

combine with cream cheese mixture.

1 package of oreo cookies

crush oreo cookies in bag or bowl

in plastic bucket or pot, layer cookies, then cream mixture, ending with cookies on top.

add gummy worms on top, or add as a layer in pot.

add fake flowers and serve with plastic (unused) shovel.

do not be afraid

i thought this was really appropriate this morning with the news last night and the capture of the second person responsible for the boston marathon bombings. i don’t know if it’s since i’ve had kids, or since i’m getting older, or since my sister’s stroke, but i feel like everyday i hear news that saddens, frightens and sometimes scares me. it’s too easy to get caught up in this broken world and i’m the first to admit that sometimes it gets the better of me.

sneak peek: baby asher

i’ve known christy and her family for longer than i can even remember. she and two other women joined me for a private click class a couple years ago with two and christy’s two oldest children were our models for the afternoon shoot. well christy just had baby #5, so their house is now outnumbered with more boys than girls. little asher (means “happy”) was born just a week ago and christy called me from the hospital asking if i could come over and help her set up some shots around her house and get a little refresher from click class.

how could i resist?

christy had some props all ready and some fabric she bought for backdrops, so we found a couple places in her house to set up and we worked on different lighting, and refresher on shooting manual. i wasn’t planning on bringing my camera, but again….

how could i resist?

i know i don’t normally shoot black and whites, but these were just screaming for it. for the first set, we had a nice little setup in the boys’ room with black fabric hung from the closet and door, and had just a bit of light coming in from the window. turned out pretty good, eh? who can resist a newborn baby held in his daddy’s arms??

couldn’t resist a couple quick shots of asher’s older siblings either…
