if you’re looking at this page, I want to say congratulations on the new addition to your family!!! oooooo, newborns are fun to photograph. i don’t have to bring them treats, get them to focus, run around after them, or sing preschool songs. babies just lay there, let you contort them, wrap them up tightly, move their fingers and toes, and they sleep the entire time. i mean, a client who does whatever i want them to? what more could i ask for?
if you are interested in a newborn session, my one piece of advice is to schedule the session with me when your baby (or babies) are 10 days old or less. they lose that newness fairly quickly, so we want to make sure we get it. both newborn and baby sessions will likely take place in your home. believe me, i understand what it takes to pack up a baby, get in the car, and make sure you remember everything you need. and then the baby decides to fill his/her drawers as your driving away.
so for that reason, i typically come to you. i will take a look around your house for the best light, and will likely move some of your furniture around. i always capture some photos of the baby’s room, because there is nothing more beautiful than a baby’s room. i will ask that you pick out some of your favorite outfits, blankets, and hats, and have them available for us.
i will usually bring a couple props to use to help me get the right posing.
the only other piece of advice i will give is that we schedule our session for a time that is just after a feeding, and maybe turn the heat up in your house a few degrees. we want a full tummy and we will likely be getting that baby naked!
